For business owners, there's a lot to worry about besides the typical business concerns. Security is an important aspect that any business owner should think about. Business owners want to protect their investments against losses from the customers and their own staff. In this regard, commercial security systems like surveillance cameras and burglar alarm systems ought to be common security features for any business. Here are a number of benefits that business owners stand to enjoy when they invest in commercial security systems.
Decrease employee theft
The threat of theft is not only carried by burglars from outside but also your own employees. The installation of strategically placed surveillance cameras can become a major deterrent to your staff to minimize employee theft.
Increase employee productivity
Surveillance systems can also boost employee productivity and assist with customer service. Employees will think that they are constantly being monitored so they wouldn't want to sleep on the job, which means their performance will increase—much to the delight of the business owner.
Surveillance camera systems placed inside and outside your retail business will go a long way in minimizing the amount of stealing that happens in your outlet. When potential customers enter your retail store and watch themselves on a spot monitor, they are less likely to pilfer because they get the sense that they are being monitored.
Stop unauthorized access
A burglar alarm system serves to stop unauthorized access into your shop. Burglars are always seeking to rob your assets such as by accessing the monies left in the register or stealing your inventory, based on the nature of your trade. Any attempt by burglars to force their way into your business will be detected by the alarm system which will raise an alarm to the relevant authorities.
Lower insurance premiums
By installing some form of commercial security system in your business outlet, you are likely to pay lower insurance premiums compared to a facility that has no security system installed. This is because insurance companies consider you less prone to security attacks, thus less of a liability. As a result, you may benefit from great discounts on your monthly indemnity payments.
Decrease fraudulent claims
A customer or even your own employee can make a fraudulent claim against your business. For example, a customer may file a personal injury claim against your business by claiming that they slipped and fell while inside your shop due to a wet or slippery floor. With a surveillance camera in place, such claims can be reviewed and the validity of any claim substantiated.Share

At work we do lots of work on making sure the office stays safe. I try and teach some of those same lessons to the kids, like making sure we don't leave windows and doors open and that we lock the car doors when we come into the house. I don't want my kids to grow up paranoid, but I know it's much easier to maintain our home security if all of these little checks are automatic. I am keeping a track of all of the things I am teaching my kids about security on the site - and working out which lessons actually sink in! Read on and see how I'm going.
